HEAD COACH Rebecca Hartman

Head Coach Bec Hartman is central to the high-performance direction of West Life Saving Club. A former national-level competitor, Bec brings exceptional firsthand experience and a deep understanding of what is required for athletes to develop, perform and excel at the highest levels of the sport.
Bec has represented Royal Life Saving in a coaching capacity across multiple periods since 2005 and continues to play an influential role in shaping the WA State Team program. Her appointment as the Australian Life Saving Team Pool Lifesaving Specialist Coach is nationally significant, providing technical leadership, performance insight and specialist expertise to squad athletes and coaches across Australia.
At West Life Saving, Bec leads a structured and progressive training environment — designing squad programs, overseeing the club’s performance pathway and mentoring the coaching team. She has cultivated a culture built on professionalism, accountability and high standards, where athletes are supported and challenged to reach their potential. Her impact is evident, with West Life Saving athletes consistently delivering outstanding results and maintaining a strong presence within WA State Teams.
Further reflecting the calibre of leadership within the club, Bec also serves as the WA Coach Assessor, supporting the accreditation and development of coaches across Western Australia and contributing to the continued advancement of the sport. Deeply invested in her athletes, she regularly travels to National Championships to support club members competing on the national stage — reinforcing both her personal commitment and the Club’s priority on coaching excellence and athlete development.
Respected for her passion, collaborative approach and technical expertise, Bec ensures West Life Saving remains closely connected to national pathways while continuing to set the standard for excellence in pool lifesaving.

Adam Moore

Senior Coach Adam Moore is a key pillar of West Life Saving Club’s coaching program, bringing exceptional experience shaped by a lifelong involvement in sport and a distinguished career in pool lifesaving. A long-standing member of the Royal Life Saving WA State Team, Adam has competed at an elite level for many years and continues to set the benchmark in Masters competition, holding multiple World Records.
An accomplished fin swimmer, Adam is particularly recognised for his strength in the 100m Manikin Tow, where his combination of power, technical precision and race craft consistently delivers results. His depth of competitive experience provides invaluable perspective for athletes seeking to refine their skills and elevate their performance.
Having been part of West Life Saving Club since its inception in 2018, Adam is a highly respected member of the coaching team and plays an important role in reinforcing the club’s culture of professionalism, commitment and performance. Leading by example in both training and competition, he demonstrates the standards required for sustained success.
Passionate about athlete development, Adam generously shares his knowledge and experience, supporting swimmers to challenge themselves and reach their potential while contributing to the strong, performance-focused environment that defines West Life Saving.

Callan Smith

Callan Smith strengthens West Life Saving Club’s coaching team, bringing extensive competitive experience and a strong high-performance background. His involvement in pool lifesaving began at age 12 and has developed into more than 14 years of competition at club, state and national levels, equipping him with the technical expertise and insight to support athletes striving for excellence.
Throughout his career, Callan has achieved outstanding success, holding a number of national records and playing a pivotal role in the Trigg Island Open Men’s team that secured gold while breaking all Open Men’s national relay records in 2022 — achievements that still stand today. Alongside lifesaving, his longstanding commitment to competitive swimming has further strengthened his aquatic capability and race performance.
In 2018, Callan relocated to the United States on a swimming scholarship, where he completed his postgraduate studies before following a professional career. During his time abroad, he worked as both a pool and ocean lifeguard and assisted coaching squad swimmers within an NCAA Division I program contributing to a positive, high-performance team culture. that defines West Life Saving.
Now back in Australia, Callan has re-engaged with the sport of lifesaving and joined the West Life Saving coaching team, where his international exposure and performance experience further enhance the depth and capability of the club’s coaching program.Having experienced the sport as both an elite athlete and coach,
Callan brings a well-rounded perspective, strong work ethic and genuine passion for athlete development. His energy, contemporary knowledge and commitment to helping swimmers and lifesaving athletes reach their potential make him a valued member of the coaching team.
COACH
Ivy Moore

Coach Ivy is an integral member of the West Life Saving coaching team, combining contemporary training knowledge with a genuine passion for athlete development. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (Secondary) at the University of Notre Dame and holds both a Certificate II in Sport Coaching and a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation — strong foundations that complement her practical coaching approach.
Ivy has a well-established background in lifesaving, having represented RLSSWA as a State Team athlete for several years. She was also a long-standing member of the SLSWA State Team, providing her with broad competitive experience across the lifesaving pathway and a strong understanding of the dedication required to succeed in the sport.
Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic on pool deck, Ivy works confidently with athletes of all ages and abilities, helping members build skills, confidence and enjoyment of the sport. Her ability to connect with younger athletes, combined with her contemporary training knowledge, makes her a valued member of the coaching team and a strong role model within the club.
